Job Summary
As a Senior Structural Engineer at Quinn Dressel Associates, you will play a pivotal role in driving our engineering initiatives and contributing to the success of our projects. You will utilize your technical expertise, leadership abilities, and problem-solving skills to lead and execute engineering activities while collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

Lead and participate in the design, development, and implementation of new-build, restorations, rehabilitations, and renovations of existing structures, ensuring conformance with all applicable building codes.

Supervise the production of construction contract documents for steel, concrete, and wood structures.

Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers/designers, fostering their professional growth and creating a collaborative team environment.

Collaborate with consultant teams (architects, mechanical engineers, electrical engineers, etc.), to develop structural concepts for residential and commercial buildings.

Drive continuous improvement initiatives, identify areas for optimization, and implement innovative engineering practices to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.

Stay up to date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices, and incorporate them into engineering processes and strategies.

Prepare technical documentation, including reports, specifications, and design records, to ensure clear communication and knowledge transfer within the team and with our clients.

Qualifications

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.

Currently holding, or eligible to hold a Professional Engineering License in the Province of Ontario

A minimum of 10 years of experience in engineering, preferably in residential or commercial structural design.

Strong working knowledge of structural analysis and design software (ETABS, SAP2000, SAFE, etc.) is required.

Strong working knowledge of lateral analysis and design. Expertise in seismic design is an asset.

Working knowledge of concrete rehabilitation and restoration practices, including assessment and repair of existing concrete structures.

Strong working knowledge of CAD software including Revit and AutoCAD.

Proven track record of successfully leading and executing engineering projects from conception to completion.

Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to identify issues, propose solutions, and make data-driven decisions.

Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with inter-disciplinary teams, stakeholders, and clients.

Leadership abilities, including mentorship, coaching, and team-building skills.

Strong organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing priorities.

This position is mostly in-office, with the opportunity to work remotely 1 day per week after the first 3 months. This position offers three weeks of vacation.
