Job Summary

As a Senior Structural Engineer at Quinn Dressel Associates, you will play a pivotal role in driving our engineering initiatives and contributing to the success of our projects. You will utilize your technical expertise, leadership abilities, and problem-solving skills to lead and execute engineering activities while collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead and participate in the design, development, and implementation of new-build, restorations, rehabilitations, and renovations of existing structures, ensuring conformance with all applicable building codes.

• Supervise the production of construction contract documents for steel, concrete, and wood structures.

• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers/designers, fostering their professional growth and creating a collaborative team environment.

• Collaborate with consultant teams (architects, mechanical engineers, electrical engineers, etc.), to develop structural concepts for residential and commercial buildings.

• Drive continuous improvement initiatives, identify areas for optimization, and implement innovative engineering practices to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.

• Stay up to date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices, and incorporate them into engineering processes and strategies.

• Prepare technical documentation, including reports, specifications, and design records, to ensure clear communication and knowledge transfer within the team and with our clients.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.

• Currently holding, or eligible to hold a Professional Engineering License in the Province of Ontario

• A minimum of 10 years of experience in engineering, preferably in residential or commercial structural design.

• Strong working knowledge of structural analysis and design software (ETABS, SAP2000, SAFE, etc.) is required.

• Strong working knowledge of lateral analysis and design. Expertise in seismic design is an asset.

• Working knowledge of concrete rehabilitation and restoration practices, including assessment and repair of existing concrete structures.

• Strong working knowledge of CAD software including Revit and AutoCAD.

• Proven track record of successfully leading and executing engineering projects from conception to completion.

• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to identify issues, propose solutions, and make data-driven decisions.

• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with inter-disciplinary teams, stakeholders, and clients.

• Leadership abilities, including mentorship, coaching, and team-building skills.

• Strong organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing priorities.

This position is mostly in-office, with the opportunity to work remotely 1 day per week after the first 3 months. This position offers three weeks of vacation.
